San Marcos swept a home doubleheader Saturday, beating St. Bonaventure 4-3 in nine innings and Pioneer Valley 8-4.

Freshman infielder Solana Sandoval hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth in the first game, scoring Kamilah Morales from second base. Morales led off the inning with a double.

Caitlyn Early hit a solo home run in the third inning, and Kate Guerra went the distance in the circle, scattering 8 hits and allowing one earned run.

In the second game, Early went 4-for-4 with another home run, giving her a 5-for-8 day with two homers, four RBI and two runs.

Morales was also 3-for-4 against Pioneer Valley, with another double, giving her a 5-for-7 day with three doubles, three runs and two RBI.

Gigi Gritt, after catching Guerra’s game against St. Bonaventure, pitched a complete game victory against Pioneer Valley.

The Royals are now 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in Channel League play. They host Ventura on Wednesday.

Dos Pueblos 9, Taft 0; Thousand Oaks 6, Dos Pueblos 0

Dos Pueblos split games at the Simi Valley Tournament Saturday — shutting out Taft 9-0 and then getting shut out by Thousand Oaks, 6-0.

“A tale of two games for us,” Charger coach Mike Gerken said. “Game one was timely hitting and good defense; game two was no hitting and a few errors that led to four unearned runs.”

In the game against Taft, Georgia Wilson threw a one-hitter while Kaitlyn Lisi hit a bases-loaded double and Trisha Lo hit a home run — a “rocket,” Gerken said — to the left field gap.

Dos Pueblos Chargers took advantage of six walks and seven hits in the game. The game was shortened by the mercy rule.

Then, “the tables were turned on us” against Thousand Oaks. The Chargers managed just one hit.

“The highlight of game two was Mia Reveles running about 30 yards to rob TO of a certain home run to center,” Gerken said. “She’s made a lot of great catches in her career, but that might be one of the best.”

The Chargers are now 2-3 on the season, and 1-0 in Channel League play. They host Pacifica Tuesday in a league game.
