Middles Charlie Boyes and Kyle Foley led the San Marcos attack in a sweep over Rio Mesa in a Channel League boys volleyball finale at the Thunderhut on Thursday.

The Royals finish 12-2 for second-place in league behind Santa Barbara. They are 26-7 overall.

“We fell short of another league championship, but our hopes for a deep run in CIF are still available,” said coach Roger Kuntz.

Boyes and Foley didn’t commit any hitting errors. Opposite Luke Walker had the most kills with 15 on 23 swings for a .609 attack efficiency. Setter Hansen Streeter dished out 39 assists and was perfect from the service line.

“ These four players have had a great career at San Marcos and we are very proud of all of them,” said Kuntz.

The Royals play Thousand Oaks in a non-league match on Friday at home and learn their CIF playoff draw on Saturday.
