San Marcos’ Tate Jaeger and the Dos Pueblos duo of Zella Cassidy and Atria Husein captured Channel League Girls Tennis titles on Tuesday in Santa Barbara.

Jaeger claimed the singles crown with a victory over Dos Pueblos’ Adhya Reddy, while Cassidy/Husein earned the doubles championship with a win over Santa Barbara High’s Kate Hashbarger/Lucy Kronberg.

In the singles field, Jaeger was in complete control from start to finish. In her six total sets played, she dropped only four games en route to the singles title. Both Jaeger and Reddy will advance to the CIF-SS Individuals.

The singles championship was the cherry on top of a dominant Channel League season in which Jaeger went undefeated and bested opponents 144-19 in games won.

Meanwhile, Cassidy/Husein earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Hashbarger/Kronberg in the doubles title matchup. Both local duos will compete in the CIF-SS Individuals in November.

In the third-place doubles matchup, Santa Barbara High’s Sky O’Reilly/Ryan Briggs took down a Ventura High pairing in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. O’Reilly/Briggs will be the Channel League’s first doubles alternate for the CIF-SS Individuals.

The third-place singles battle pitted Dons teammates Keren Monroy and Hali Wight against each other, with Wight earning a 6-2, 6-2 win to claim the first singles alternate spot for the playoffs.

Santa Barbara High was the top-performing squad across the two-day Channel League individual championships, going 15-7 across the singles and doubles tournament.
