Teddy Vigna shot a 4-under 67 at Glen Annie Tuesday to take medalist honors for Dos Pueblos in a 364-449 Channel League win over Ventura.

Collectively, the five Charger golfers shot just nine over par and had 19 birdies. Vigna had eight of those birdies.

“After the round he was very proud of himself,” Dos Pueblos coach Kevin Ahlers said.

The coach said the par-71 course was “playing long with some windy conditions.

“Before the match the boys came in feeling pretty confident playing at Glen Annie, and they were excited to beat our team low from last year in our second match.”

“I asked the boys to stay mentally focused for 18 holes and their scores provided some great positive reinforcement.”

Golfer Shams Jahangir-Arshad was the medalist Tuesday for San Marcos, shooting a 4-under 67 at Sterling Hills Golf Club in a Channel League win over Rio Mesa.

He was followed, one stroke back, by teammate Jeffrey Foster with a 68.

“Shams and Jeffrey both played great and steady golf today to be under par,” Royals coach Jeff Ashton said. In addition, Holdt Gore “had a 33 on the back nine to come back from a disappointing front nine to shoot a 79.”

Ethan Klawuhn made a counting score of 82 in his first high school match.
