The San Marcos girls water polo team finished fourth in the Newport Elite Eight Tournament on Saturday.

The Royals lost to No. 2 seed Foothill in the semifinals, 13-9, and fell to Laguna Beach, 8-7, in the third-place game.

Foothill beat The Bishop’s School of La Jolla, 13-7, for the title.

In the semifinal game, San Marcos center Reagan McEachen drew a staggering seven ejections against Foothill and scored goal.

“It would be an understatement to say she played great,” said coach Chuckie Roth.

Ava Stryker had four goals and a steal.

Goalie Lauren Schweitzer made 10 blocks to go with a steal and an assist.

McEachen continued her sterling play against Laguna Beach, earning three ejections and scoring three goals.

Charlotte Raisin also scored three goals and earned an ejection, and Schweitzer made six blocks.

“The girls played tough all weekend. I’m extremely proud of them,” said Roth.

San Marcos opens the Channel League Tournament on Wednesday at home against Pacifica at 1:30 p.m.. A win would put the Royals against Ventura at 5:30 p.m.

The final and third-place game is at Oxnard High on Thursday
