San Marcos lost in the fifth-place game against Mira Costa, 15-11, on the final day of the Santa Barbara Invitational water polo tournament at the Elings Aquatic Center.
The Royals got back-to-back goals from Ryder Wilson and Indiana Roth to tie the score at 10 in the third period against the Mustangs.
Mira Costa regained control of the game in the fourth period, outscoring San Marcos 5-1 to end the game.
Brandon Lee led the Royals with five goals.
In the fifth-place semifinals, Lee carried the load in an 8-6 win over Yucaipa, He buried five goals and Wilson tallied two.
