San Marcos came up short against Buena in a tight Channel League wrestling dual meet on Thursday night, losing 42-39.

Buena won the final bout of the night (at 182 pounds) on a pin to take the victory.

San Marcos coach Kit Cooper said his team gave up forfeits at two weight classes that it filled on Tuesday “due to extenuating circumstances.”

The Royals recorded six pins on the night. Jake Carroll got it going at 220 pounds followed by Manny Munoz (285), Jacob Dominguez (113), Angel Estrada (120), Chuck Wickline (138) and Levi Cooper (145).

San Marcos is 1-1 in league duals.
