San Marcos junior Ava Stryker has been named to the All CIF-Southern Section girls water polo Open Division team.

The Open Division consisted of the top 8 teams in Southern California. Twelve players were named to the elite squad.

Division champion Newport Harbor had seniors Morgan Netherton and Taylor Smith named co-Players of the Year and Ross Sinclair selected as the Coach of the Year.

Santa Barbara High senior Allison Bartholomew was chosen to the All-CIF Division 1 team.

Stryker was recently named to USA Women’s Senior National Team for the FINA Intercontinental Cup.  She is one of eight All CIF-SS honorees selected to the squad, which is currently playing in Lima, Peru.

In her first two games, Stryker scored three goals in a 26-3 victory over Colombia and tallie three more in a 21-2 win against Cuba.

The tournament runs March 7-13.
