The San Marcos baseball team clinched its second consecutive Channel League title Tuesday with a 9-1 win at Lompoc.
The Royals offense came alive, with 13 hits, five for extra bases. Emmett Speake had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI, and Joaquin Sandoval went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
On the mound for San Marcos, starter Cole Shoenwetter struck out 12 in five innings, giving up one earned run. Speake closed out the game with two scoreless innings and two strikeouts.
Also for the Royals offense, Caden Hodina went 2-for-2 with a double, a RBI and two walks, while Owen Estabrook had two hits. Nicky Fell doubled and Darren Orlando, Aidan Mandel, Lance Bermudes all had hits.
The Royals are 12-2 in league and will host Lompoc Thursday at home for Senior Day to wrap up the regular season.
