Evan Lehman scored the winning goal with 40 seconds left in regulation to give the San Marcos boys lacrosse team a 10-9 comeback win over Thousand Oaks on Wednesday night.
Excellent defensive play from Eric Wolf and Josh Brown created the goal-scoring opportunity for Lehman, who had two goals in the game.
Freshman Tyler Hughes scored the tying goal. He finished with three goals and was assisted on one by his older brother Jack Hughes, who also had a goal in the win.
The Royals worked their way back from a 5-0 deficit. Coach Rick Lehman said senior goalie Josh Glasman was key to the comeback with his saves and outlet passes.
San Marcos pulled to within 6-4 by halftime and tied the score at 7-7 in the third period.
John Connolly led the Royals (4-1) with four goals.
