San Marcos swimmers traveled to Lompoc Thursday and came away with a sweep from performances that left their coaches well pleased.
“Outstanding swims from Franklin Jaramilla III, Alexi Stapf, and Pierce Rybnicek, who took first in their events,” said Peera Sukavivatanachai, the Royals’ boys swim coach.
Jaramilla won the 200 IM in 2:20.76, Stapf the 100 freestyle in 52.99 and Rybnicek won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.33.
On the girls’ side, coach Chuckie Roth had praise, too.
“Today we had some great performances,” Roth said. “Senior Keegan Steele won the 100 butterfly and 200 free. I appreciate her hard work and dedication to the team over the past 4 years.
“Also, Sophomore Molly Nelson had a great performance in the 100 backstroke with a commanding win over the field. Molly is a good kid who works very hard and is making huge strides. We had a lot of great performances and it was a really fun trip to Lompoc.”
Steele won the 200 freestyle in 2:20.42 and the 100 butterfly in 1:09.42. Nelson won the 100 backstroke in 1:12.22.
Also, Serenity Stanfield timed 30:31 in the 50 freestyle, Megan Malengo clocked the 100 freestyle in 1:04.56, and Sofia Orwig the 500 freestyle in 6:18.76.
