San Marcos clinched its fourth straight Channel League crown with a 12-6 win at home over Dos Pueblos on Tuesday.

The Royals’ Masato Perera swept his three singles sets with the loss of only one game to remain perfect on the season.

“There’s not a whole lot that Masa can’t do on the tennis court,” San Marcos coach Jarrod Bradley said. “It’s a shame that the Ojai was canceled this year, because he is a contender for winning a CIF Singles Championship.”

Charlie and Joey Friedman swept their three doubles sets, including a 7-5 win over the Chargers’ previously undefeated #1 team of Daniel Truong and Keaton Cross.

Truong and Cross won their other two sets, and singles player Will Steinberg also won two sets for Dos Pueblos.

“Every set was well played by both DP and SM players,” Dos Pueblos coach Laura Housinger said. “Although the final score was 6-12, many of the matches could have gone either way. I really saw a lot of heart and focus by all of my players today.”

The win improves San Marcos to 9-0 in Channel League play, and 10-0 overall. Dos Pueblos is 7-2 and 9-2.
