The San Marcos boys golf team placed eighth at the CIF-SS Division 2 Championships at Soule Park on Monday.

Loyola High won the team title with a score of 375, Diamond Bar was next at 383 and Simi Valley took third at 387. San Marcos shot 406.

The match medalist was Dante Lazare of Villa Park with a 2-under par 70.

Leo Metzger and Shams Jahangir-Arshad each shot 4-over 76 to lead San Marcos and Jeffrey Forster had a 79.

“We had a bit of a rough day today,” said San Marcos coach Jeff Ashton. “I think most of the guys struggled to really get in a rhythm.

“Overall, it was a great season and I feel like the boys did everything right preparation wise.  Everybody on this team returns again next year, so we are looking forward to the opportunity to be in the same position again next year.”
