The San Marcos boys tennis team completed an undefeated Channel League season with a 16-2 win over Santa Barbara.

Jed Greenwald led San Marcos in singles, sweeping three sets at love.

“Jed was in a groove today, pinpointing his groundstrokes and finishing off forehand winners,” San Marcos coach Jarrod Bradley said.

In doubles, Ronin Suzuki and Joey Friedman swept their sets 6-3, 6-1, 6-0.

Santa Barbara senior captain Fabian Clifford and Carter Mikkelsen played at a high level against the San Marcos No. 3 team, said coach Danny Echt. “Fabian was dictating very well off of the ground with his forehand topspin while he and Carter kept a higher percentage of first serves in the court.”

The Dons are 5-4 on the year and have clinched a CIF bid.

San Marcos is 10-0 in Channel League play, heading into the league tournament next week. The Royals are 11-0 overall, and will close out their non-league season with matches against San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande.
