The San Marcos girls lacrosse team opened its season on the road and won 13-4 over Louisville in a game played at Crespi Carmelite High School on Tuesday,

The Royals broke open the game with a seven-goal run starting with the last goal of the first half and the first six goals of the second half.

Six different Royals scored, lec by senior midfielder Aubrey Sturgeon with four goals and an assist. Junior Meiya Sidney scored three goals.

Junior goalie Shana Friedenberg made eight saves.  All nineteen players who made the trip played in both halves for San Marcos, including four JV players.  

The Royals started the scoring with an unassisted goal by Simone Stone and eventually led 6-2 at halftime.

Coach Paul Ramsey was pleased to see San Marcos get off the bus after the two-and-a-half hour trip and perform well.  

“It’s tough to do that,” said Ramsey. “We didn’t fire on all cylinders right away but we did eventually.” 

San Marcos next plays at home against Valencia on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
