Senior midfielder Sophia Alexander of San Marcos has committed to continue her lacrosse career at the University of Puget Sound, Royals’ coach Paul Ramsey said.

Puget Sound is a Division 3 program that competes in the Northwest Conference with George Fox University, Linfield, Pacific, Willamette, Whitman and Whitworth.

Alexander converted from a defender with her club team, Mission Lacrosse Club, and then with San Marcos during her abbreviated senior season. She scored five goals on eight shots and contributed six assists for the Royals before the season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ramsey, who also coaches with the Mission Lacrosse Club, said Alexander made strides in her new position.

“Sophia goes full speed and looks up to read the situation, scanning for teammates and openings,” he said. “Every coach in her future is going to love that,” concluded Ramsey.  “We will miss her.”
