A strong performance by the doubles team of Charlotte Manion and Sydney Posch led the San Marcos girls tennis team to an 11-7 win over Calabasas in a CIF-SS Divison 1 first-round playoff match on Wednesday on the Royals’ courts.

Manion/Posch won their sets 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, and the Royals’ two other doubles teams combined for four wins.

“It was quite the team effort today,” said coach Jonny Sapp. “Charlotte and Sydney stayed mentally tough against their #1 doubles team.”

Sapp was pleased how his players fought hard in the match.

“I told the girls to put everything on the table and give it everything you got, because if we play to our full potential and lose at least we know we gave our 100% and they were just the better team.

“We gave it our 100% and had no regrets and got the win.”

The Royals play at sixth-seeded Harvard Westlake on Friday.

“We’re going to bring the same energy we brought today and see if we can give them an upset on the road,” said Sapp.
