Santa Barbara’s Oli Obando and Abby Webber each scored two goals, with Obando adding two earned exclusions, in a 9-6 loss to visiting Oaks Christian Saturday.
Maria Bittle had a goal, assist and steal for the Dons, and Ella Maclear had three assists. Goalie Nalani Yim had 10 saves.
Santa Barbara was down 4-3 at the half.
The Lions scored two penalties and scored on two of their four 6-on-5 advantages. The Dons scored on only one of their five 6-on-5 plays.
Santa Barbara hosts Dos Pueblos on Tuesday.
Oaks Christian 11, Dos Pueblos 10
After spotting Oaks Christian a 7-2 first quarter lead, Dos Pueblos put a full team effort into coming back with an opportunity to tie the game with seven seconds left before falling 11-10 Saturday.
Oaks Christian led at halftime, 8-4.
Alina King scored for DP and Frankie Court and Hana Lora Abel followed with goals to make it a one-goal game with 1:27. The Lions were whistled for an exclusion, giving the Chargers a power-play opportunity with 47 seconds left. Emma Gilbert had a game-tying shot attempt bounce off the cross bar.
Gilbert, Athena Wigo, Court, and Ava Bennet scored two goals each, while King and Abel had a goal apiece.
“Megan Garner made several important steals coming out of the goal to slow the Oaks Christian offense,” Dos Pueblos coach Chris Parrish said.
With the loss, the Chargers fall to 5-4 overall and remain 3-0 in Channel League play. They travel to Santa Barbara on Tuesday for a league match.
