The Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame got a little bit bigger on Monday night.
SBART inducted seven new members into its Hall of Fame Class of 2026 inside Hatch Hall at Direct Relief, with four athletes, two coaches and one special achievement honoree being celebrated.
The athletes in the class were Jordyn Lilly, Jenna Phreaner, Artie Holland and Shantay Legans; Danelle Little Muhr and Ben Howland were inducted as coaches; and Javier Acosta earned the Special Achievement induction.
The event featured a reception before the event, speeches from each of the inductees and special video introductions made by coaches, teammates and people influential in the inductees’ careers.
While there is no shortage of accolades in this year’s class, the majority of the inductee speeches touched on memories made with teammates, coaches and parents along the journey.
Lilly helped lead the Bishop Diego girls basketball team to a CIF-SS championship in 2015, earning CIF Player of the Year honors while snapping a 37-year title drought for the program.
Phreaner was a water polo standout at San Marcos, where she shined as a Channel League MVP and All-American before going on to win a Big West championship at UC Irvine.
Holland starred on the baseball and football fields at San Marcos, including an All-CIF honor at linebacker, and put together record-breaking college baseball seasons with both SBCC and Fresno State.
Legans was a basketball star at Dos Pueblos, winning Santa Barbara County Player of the Year honors before going on to play at Cal Berkeley and Fresno State. He then transitioned into coaching, and he is currently the University of Portland men’s basketball head coach.
Little Muhr guided several Dos Pueblos aquatics programs to new heights as a head coach, including winning three consecutive CIF girls water polo championships from 2008 to 2010.
Howland is one of the best college basketball coaches of his generation, leading four teams to the NCAA Tournament, including three straight Final Four trips while at the helm of UCLA men’s basketball.
Acosta has made a wide-reaching impact on Santa Barbara sports, serving as Santa Barbara High’s gardener for decades and working on countless youth sports fields over the years.
