A Santa Barbara attorney is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday on charges he sexually assaulted a woman who was intoxicated and unable to resist.

Andrew Frederick Alire is due to appear before Superior Court Judge Thomas R. Adams on felony charges of rape and oral copulation of an intoxicated person, according to the criminal complaint filed by the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office.

Alire, 40, was arrested March 17 on a warrant obtained by Santa Barbara Police Department investigators.

He was booked into the County Jail, and subsequently was released after posting $100,000 bail. The criminal complaint was filed last month.

The victim in the case was identified in the complaint only as Jane Doe, and a criminal protective order on her behalf was issued by Adams on May 19, according to online court records.

The Police Department refused to provide any details about the alleged assault, which occurred on Jan. 15.

Alire reportedly is a graduate of the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, and has been a member of the California Bar since 2012.
