The Santa Barbara County Fire Department will conduct live fire training exercises at two training facilities in May as part of its Firefighter Recruit Academy.
“These exercises are an essential component of preparing future firefighters to safely and effectively respond to real-life emergency situations,” the County Fire Department said.
Training will take place 8 a.m.-5 p.m. the following dates and locations:
Monday, May 5 at Burton Mesa Training Center
.
Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 at Allan Hancock Regional Training Facility
.
During the exercises, firefighter recruits will engage in controlled live fire scenarios designed to simulate real fire ground conditions.
Residents in surrounding areas may see smoke or fire activity.
“Please be assured that these drills are closely supervised and conducted in a controlled environment,” the Fire Department said.
