The California Department of Motor Vehicles office in Santa Barbara will close for three months for renovations at the end of this week.
The office at 535 Castillo St. will shut down on Friday at 5 p.m., and is scheduled to reopen on Jan. 15, 2027.
The renovations will include new flooring, carpet, and furniture, interior and exterior paint, upgraded data cables, and restrooms.
In the meantime, residents can use three other DMV locations in the region.
They include the Goleta office at 7127 Hollister Ave., #24, the Ventura location at 4260 Market St., and the Oxnard office at 4050 Saviers Road.
Although other offices are open, the DMV offers many services online that do not require people to visit in person.
These services include renewals for vehicle registrations, licenses and ID cards, disability placards, and other permits.
Residents can also apply online for a driver’s license or ID Card, placards, or even request a change of address. The website also lets guests order records, request replacements of official cards or placards, and submit reports.
Additionally, many payments can be made online through the official website.
