Waves of good times will be rolling into Earl Warren Showgrounds when Barrels of Fun! the Santa Barbara Fair & Expo, comes to town Wednesday, April 26-Sunday, April 30.
The Barrels of Fun theme is a salute to the fun of the Santa Barbara seaside lifestyle (catching a wave, visiting the zoo, world class wines, Old Spanish Days, etc.).
Presale prices for admission and carnival rides are offered through April 25 at Earl Warren Showgrounds and at www.earlwarren.com.
On opening night, Locals Only offers $5 admission for anyone who lives from Carpinteria to Goleta.
The Carnival Midway will be packed with rides that twist, twirl, whip and whirl. The Giant Wheel gives riders a bird’s eye view from 100 feet up. The Grand Carousel offers a choice of 38 beautiful jumping horses to take fair-goers on a ride that will spark memories of fairs gone by.
Other thrilling rides include Turbo Speed, the Inversion or the Mega Flip. Safe rides for children include the Wacky Worm, Puppy Roll, and the Crown Merry-go-round.
For family favorite performances, experience the magic of Frank Thurston, and the variety of juggling, magic and laughs from stilt-walking Arty Loon. Also on the bill are hypnotist James Kellogg Jr.; the Wilder Show with the unicycle-riding acrobat; and the Racing Pigs who circle the track again and again.
Local performers will include dance and gymnastics groups. (Partial list of performers below.)
Motocross shows in the arena (free with Fair admission) will feature Extreme Freestyle Motocross with X-Games Gold Medalist Adam Jones and friends. Two days only: 7 p.m. Saturday, April 29, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30.
Adding to the mix are games of chance: roll a ball, toss a dart, shoot the hoops and win a prize. And, of course, there is fair food.
Finally, no fair visit is complete without a visit to the exhibits building to view the variety of artwork, crafts, projects, exhibits and demonstrations presented by local residents.
