The Santa Barbara Foresters continued their hot start to the season with a 14-0 seven-inning victory over the Santa Maria Indians on Sunday at Eddie Mathews Field.

It was a successful opening weekend for the Foresters, who are now 2-0 and have outscored their opponents 27-1 along the way.

After a scoreless opening frame, the Santa Barbara offense dominated the rest of the game with two runs in the second, six in the third, four in the fourth and two in the fifth.

The Foresters totaled 17 hits at the plate, while four pitchers combined to shut out the Indians in seven innings with seven strikeouts.

Nick Salmon (Golden West) led the offensive outburst by going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI and three runs scored. Meanwhile, Kurt Ippolito (Central Christian) went 3-for-5 with three RBI and Josh Woodworth (Pepperdine) went 2-for-4 and scored three times.

Caleb Hoover (South Carolina), Makani Nabarro (Hawaii) and Joseph Sandusky (Weatherford) tallied two hits apiece, and both Nabarro and Sandusky scored twice.

On the bump, Tanner Grove (Cal) twirled four scoreless innings while striking out five. Mason Crang (Fordham), Joey Wittig (Louisiana Tech) and Max McGrady (Cal Lutheran) each tossed one shutout frame of relief en route to the win.

The Foresters will hit the road for the first time this summer when they take on the Conejo Oaks at Ventura College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
