The Santa Barbara Foresters cruised to a 14-2 rout of the Santa Maria Indians on Friday at Eddie Mathews Field.
The Foresters (25-5-1) have won consecutive games heading into a two-game set at home with the San Luis Obispo Blues this weekend to end the regular season. The first game will be on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
Santa Barbara opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first thanks to a Blues error, but the visitors evened the score in the third to make it 1-1.
After a scoreless fourth, the sleeping giant that is the Forester offense woke up. Across the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings, Santa Barbara poured on 13 runs to pull away for the win.
Almost every single Forester got in on the fun, with Makani Nabarro (Hawaii) putting the cherry on top of the win with a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth to bring the game to its final score of 14-2.
Donovan Lasalle (Louisiana) and Aidan Camberg (Pepperdine) each went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Santa Barbara, while Easton Moomau (Texas Rio Grande Valley) went 2-for-4 and scored three times at the top of the lineup.
Meanwhile, Henry Prindl (UNLV) turned in a strong start for the Foresters by allowing one run on five hits while striking out nine in five innings of work.
Carter Speights (UC Davis) allowed one run in the sixth, and Grady Westphal (Texas) finished off the victory with a three-inning save that featured six strikeouts.
