The Santa Barbara Foresters fell victim to a late rally and dropped a road matchup to the San Luis Obispo Blues by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday at Sinsheimer Park.

The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Foresters, who are now 14-6 on the summer.

Santa Barbara came out of the gates on fire, as an RBI groundout by Jack Holman and a two-run homer off the bat of Nolan Souza put them ahead 3-0 in the first inning.

Forester starter Payton Gubler began the day strong as well, tossing three scoreless frames to begin his outing.

However, the Blues piled on four runs across the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-3 lead, which held through a scoreless sixth.

In the top of the seventh, the Foresters reclaimed the lead a 5-4 on a pair of RBI doubles by Daniel Patterson and Kaden Peterson.

The late rally for the Blues came in the bottom of the eighth with RBI singles coming from Max Lane, Jared Mettam and EJ Royal to take a 7-5 advantage.

That score held through the ninth inning, sending the Foresters back down the 101 with a loss.

Despite the defeat, Santa Barbara will get a chance for revenge in Thursday’s 4th of July matchup against the Blues at Eddie Mathews Field at 4:30 p.m.
