The Santa Barbara High girls won their double dual with Rio Mesa and Buena while the boys went 1-1 in the Channel League meet at Buena.
The Dons girls defeated Buena 74-52 and Rio Mesa 68-59. The boys topped Buena 73-43 and fell short against Rio Mesa, 67-59.
Sierra Gronquist was a double winner for the girls. She led off the first-pace 4×400-meter relay with Mackenna Show, Corrine Hulford and London Moro (4:27.49) and captured the 100-meter hurdles in a personal best 18.09. She was second in the 300-meter hurdles in a personal best 52.87.
Gianna Stump won the triple jump at 35-0, was second in the long jump at 15-8.775 and third in the high jump at 4-6.
Anne Knecht and London Moro went 1-2 in the 800 meters (2:29.72, 2:37.93) and Krystal Valdez won the discus at 93-3.
“Total team effort for the girls,” said coach Olivia Perdices. “Not a lot of wins, but every kid out there battling for every place and point. They were all fully invested in the outcome.”
For the boys, Oliver Levine ran a personal best 2:01.60 to win the 800 meters and Drew DeLozier was second in 2:07.00. Both ran on the winning 4×400 meter relay (3:45.04) with Chris Lopez and Roman Higgins.
“Great day for both those guys and always a good feeling to win a tight relay to close the meet,” said Perdices.
Davis Flanagin won the long jump at 21-9 and triple jump at 41-4 and was second in the 100 meters at 11.23.
“He keeps coming through and getting the points we ask him for,” said Perdices.
