Santa Barbara High boys volleyball cruised to a three-set sweep of Arroyo Grande on Monday inside J.R. Richards Gym, 25-18, 25-18, 25-17.

Maddox Denver facilitated the Dons’ offense to the tune of 27 assists, while also tacking on three blocks and three digs on the defensive end.

Hayes Costner made his season debut with seven kills, four digs and three assists for Santa Barbara High. Meanwhile, Kristian Dybdahl collected six kills, five aces and three blocks.

“I was very pleased with how well setter Maddox Denver distributed the ball tonight,” Santa Barbara High head coach Chad Arneson said. “It was nice to get [Hayes] back on the court. He is one of those players who elevates our team to another level.”

“Kristian Dybdahl is an unselfish player who will do anything it takes to make our team better.”

The Dons (2-0) will take on a strong Mira Costa team on the road next Monday.
