Santa Barbara High flag football dropped a Pacific View League matchup with Channel Islands by a score of 25-9 on Tuesday in Oxnard.

The Dons (12-4, 4-2 PVL) are now one game behind first-place Pacifica in the league standings with two games remaining.

Channel Islands dominated the opening half, racing out to a quick 13-0 lead and holding onto it into the locker room.

Santa Barbara High came out of the break on fire, forcing a three-and-out before Lylee Harris connected with Alexandra Arnold for a 7-yard touchdown. Elina Stump rushed in the extra point to cut the deficit to 13-7.

After another Channel Islands punt, the Dons put together another long possession into Raider territory. However, the drive was halted by a Channel Islands interception.

The Raiders took advantage of the turnover with two more unanswered touchdowns to balloon the lead to 25-7 in the fourth. The Dons rounded out the scoring with a safety courtesy of Shea Gannon to make it 25-9.

“We could really feel the momentum shifting our way, but credit to Channel Islands for making the big plays tonight when they needed it,” Santa Barbara High head coach Travis Mañach said.

The Dons’ duo of Stump and Gannon was in the backfield all night long, with Stump totaling seven sacks and Gannon recording three sacks.

“We put pressure on their QB all night, but her ability to keep plays alive gave us some trouble tonight,” Mañach said.

Santa Barbara High will take on Del Sol in Oxnard on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
