Santa Barbara High football fell on the road to a strong Moorpark team by a score of 24-14 on Friday.
The Dons dropped to 2-2 with the loss, while the Musketeers improved to 4-0 on their non-league schedule. Santa Barbara will host San Marcos for the Big Game next Friday at 7 p.m.
Moorpark opened the scoring in the first on a 68-yard passing touchdown to go up 7-0, a score that remained into the second.
The Dons got on the board early in the second quarter thanks to a 43-yard touchdown pass from Griffin Arnold to James King to tie the game up at 7-7.
The Musketeers answered with a 15-yard touchdown pass to regain the lead at 14-7 with 2:44 remaining in the first half.
Santa Barbara immediately responded with a quick drive down the field and an 8-yard touchdown pass from Arnold to Monty Lopez to knot the score back up at 14-14 heading into halftime.
The Moorpark defense then took over in the second half, holding the Dons scoreless across the third and fourth quarters.
The SB defense did the same in the third quarter, but the Musketeer offense broke through with a field goal and a touchdown in the fourth to pull away for the 24-14 win.
