Santa Barbara High girls golf sent a trio of junior golfers to the Brave the Course Scramble competition at La Purisima Golf Course on Monday.
The Dons’ team of Ceci Duarte, Jazmin Mislang and Hannah Mahboob opened their season with a combined score of 82 on the par-72 course.
“La Purisima is a challenging course, especially in the wind and it was a fun format with Lompoc High as the host,” Santa Barbara High head coach Ryan Throop said.
“In my 20 years of coaching, this is the first time we have been a part of this scoring format. Our golfers had a great time and look forward to it again next year.”
The Dons will host Santa Ynez High for a non-league match on Thursday at Santa Barbara Golf Club.
Dos Pueblos
The Chargers had a pair of teams competing in the scramble event, with their A team earning a score of 74 and the B team finishing the day with a mark of 72.

“It was a fun format that allowed for a challenging, yet low-stakes, enjoyable day to start off the season,” Dos Pueblos head coach Dan Choi said. “The wind and length of the course are a perfect way to test out form.
“As expected, there were a lot of great shots as well as plenty to work on.”
