Santa Barbara High girls water polo’s hot start to the season continued with two wins in the Newbury Park Tournament on Saturday.

The Dons began the day with a 12-10 win over Mira Costa and continued to roll with a 13-9 victory over Carpinteria High, completing a 4-0 weekend.

In the matchup with Mira Costa, Sasha Jones made two key saves for Santa Barbara in the final two minutes to secure the win. She ended the game with eight total saves.

Offensively, both Rose Nelley and Luna Morancey scored four goals, while Violette Bailey tallied two goals and two exclusions earned.

In the second game of the day, Santa Barbara led 12-5 after the first quarter and held on for the win. Jules Horton collected five goals and five exclusions earned, while Nelley ended with four goals, three assists and three exclusions earned.

The Dons (10-1) will be on the road against Newbury Park on Tuesday.

San Marcos 18, Marlborough 10

The Royals earned a non-league victory over Marlborough on Saturday at Elings Aquatic Center.

“This was a good game for us,” San Marcos head coach Chuckie Roth said. “We are able to get the entire team in the water. We continue to find new strengths and are trying to identify new potential goalies.”

One of those goalies was Bethany King, who recorded three saves in goal and scored three goals of her own in the field.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Raisin and Jade Pattison each scored four goals for the Royals. Josie Drabik, Sophie Yonker and Shea Estabrook all scored twice and Ella Grube scored one goal.

San Marcos (4-1) will be on the road against Oxnard for a league game on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.
