Santa Barbara High girls water polo’s impressive playoff run came to an end with an 11-5 loss to La Serna in the CIF-SS Div. 2 Championship game on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.
The Dons end the season with a strong overall record of 26-9, including a third-place finish in the Channel League tournament and four playoff victories.
The title matchup was a tight affair early, as Santa Barbara High and La Serna battled to a 2-2 tie after the first quarter of play.
However, La Serna’s defense dominated the rest of the game and held the Dons to just three goals in the final three quarters of play.
Meanwhile, the Lancers slowly pulled away for the 11-5 victory to clinch the CIF-SS D2 title.
