Santa Barbara High and San Marcos boys tennis placed third and fourth, respectively, in the second annual Santa Barbara All-Doubles Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Santa Barbara.
Teams across Southern California competed in matches consisting of six lines of doubles.
The Dons and Royals clashed in the third-place matchup to round out the tournament, with Santa Barbara High coming out on top 5-1 to clinch third.
“Moving this tournament to the beginning of the season will be a big help,” San Marcos head coach Emily Carver said. “It will help inspire us to work harder at practice, and it gives me good insight as to what areas of improvement we have.
“Also, just getting the first cross-town rivalry match up out of our system is helpful; the boys always get fired up playing Santa Barbara. We have a young team at SM, and it’s going to be exciting to see their growth over these next few months.”
The Royals will host Oxnard, Carpinteria High and Buena next week.
