Santa Barbara Humane is touting the success of its recent community outreach efforts, where 688 free veterinary services were provided to 242 animals.
The services were offered during two events: the Aug. 10 Vaccine Day and Open House at the organization’s Santa Barbara Campus, and the Aug. 18 Day in the Park event at Waller Park in Santa Maria.
At the Vaccine Day, held at Santa Barbara Humane’s Santa Barbara Campus, pet owners were able to access essential veterinary services, including free DA2PP and FVRCP vaccines and microchipping.
Co-hosted by State Sen. Monique Limon, the event provided community members with information about the services Santa Barbara Humane provides, including veterinary care, dog training, and a pet supply pantry.
The Day in the Park event in Santa Maria offered another opportunity for pet owners to access key veterinary services like vaccines, flea treatments, and microchips at no cost.
“We’re thrilled to have made such a significant impact through these events,” said Dr. Katie Marrie, chief veterinary officer at Santa Barbara Humane.
“By providing these essential services, we are helping to ensure that more animals in our community receive the care they need, which is especially important as we continue to work towards our goal of keeping pets healthy and with the families who love them,” she said.
Santa Barbara Humane, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides low-cost veterinary care year-round at its Santa Barbara and Santa Maria campuses.
