For the eighth year, Santa Barbara Pickleball will host its signature annual event — rebranded as Kenny Loggins’ Pickleball in the Danger Zone Tournament — May 2, 3 and 4 at Santa Barbara Municipal Pickleball Center, 1414 Park Place, Santa Barbara.

Formerly known as the American Riviera Classic Pickleball Tournament, the event has grown into what may be the largest amateur athletic event in the city, according to organizers.

Anticipating more than 400 registered players, the tournament will feature men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles divisions, showcasing top-tier amateur competition.

Adding to the attraction, the tournament will include celebrity and pro exhibition matches, open to the public for viewing.

Among the participating stars are Grammy-winning artist Kenny Loggins, actor Duane Henry, and musician Martin Gore. More surprise guests are expected to join throughout the weekend.

This year’s event will benefit Unity Shoppe, which is committed to providing resources, such as groceries, clothing and other essentials to Santa Barbara County residents impacted by temporary conditions of poverty, life transitions, natural disasters, or health crises.

“We aim to reinforce human dignity and encourage self-sufficiency and independence,” Unity Shoppe said.

Admission to the tournament is free on May 2 and May 4. There is a $50 ticket fee for spectators of the celebrity/pro matches on Saturday May 3.

Note, parking is not available at the site, so rideshares or drop-off is required. For tickets, visit https://unityshoppe.org.
