One person was injured and taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon in Santa Barbara due to a shooting now under investigation by police.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Santa Barbara Police Department dispatchers received several calls about a single shot heard in the 800 block of San Pascual Street, Lt. Ethan Ragsdale said.

Dispatchers also learned that an adult shooting victim was being transported to Cottage Hospital in a vehicle.

Officers who responded to San Pascual Street located a potential crime scene, Ragsdale said.

Additional officers went to the hospital to speak with the victim and also anyone else with information to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Santa Barbara Police detectives were dispatched to handle the investigation.

The 800 block of San Pascual Street was shut down temporarily to vehicles and pedestrians while this investigation occurred, Ragsdale said.

The shooting victim is currently in stable condition.

This investigation is ongoing and is believed to be an isolated incident, Ragsdale said.

No further information is available at this time, he added.
