The Santa Barbara Sky 10U girls soccer team continued their dominant season with an AYSO Section 10 championship in Bakersfield over the weekend.

Representing AYSO Region 122, the Sky ripped off five straight wins over the weekend to come out on top and bring their season-long record to 22-0.

In pool play, Santa Barbara went 3-0, picking up a 3-1 victory over Newhall, a 5-3 win over San Luis Obispo and a 4-2 triumph over Granada Hills to clinch a spot in the second day of the tournament.

In the semifinals against Orosi, the Sky defense stepped up and shut down their opponents for a 2-0 victory, setting up a finals matchup with Saugus of Region 46.

There, the Santa Barbara offense took center stage and powered the team to a 4-2 win and a Section 10 title.

“The girls really came together as a whole this weekend, understanding their roles and responsibilities, and giving all they had to finish the day with the win,” Sky coach Tim Johnson said.

Santa Barbara’s season isn’t over yet, as they will now compete in the Western State Championships on Saturday, Mar. 16 in Orange County.

The members of the team are Kaia Johnson, Amelia Reeves, Emiko Kowalchyk, Kate Gibson, Malia Valdez, Sami Jupille, Scarlet Kosinski, Scarlett Roberge, Solei Kline and SoLo Trac. The team is coached by Tim Johnson and Allen Trac.
