Santa Barbara Sky FC officially announced via Instagram on Monday that they have delayed its debut until the USL League One 2025 season.

The team, which was announced in 2022, originally had plans to begin play in 2024 but was unable to reach that goal and will now turn their attention to next year.

According to the post, the organization will be sharing “exciting news” regarding “key developments that will provide our club unique opportunities” in the coming months.

The team has yet to announce their home venue or their plans for forming the roster itself, both of which will likely be released in the near future.

In response to Noozhawk’s update story on the SB Sky last Friday, founding owner Peter Moore issued this statement:

“Santa Barbara Sky FC will now commence play in USL in the spring of 2025, and we look forward to bringing top-class professional soccer to a community that has fully-embraced The World’s Game. Details regarding the full ownership structure and our home stadium will be announced in the coming weeks. We would like to thank our fans and partners for their patience and commitment as we work our way towards making this dream a reality here in Santa Barbara.”
