Santa Barbara Swim Club sent several standout athletes to their respective championship meets throughout December, with many coming home with impressive finishes.

The championship meets marked the end of the winter season for the local swimmers.

SBSC was well represented at the USA Swimming Sectional Championships, which featured over 600 swimmers ages 14 and over.

Those swimming for SBSC were Ben Caputo, Nolan Clark, Tierney Clark, Dasha Dzreeva, Sophia Hall, Charlie Hall, Josiah Hansen, Riley Moore, Bennett Sullivan, Matthew Sullivan, Gavin Tallman, Sierra Tallman, Rio Valle and Noah Warkentin, who all raced to personal bests.

Bennett Sullivan broke the team records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke while Sierra Tallman finished in the top six of the 100 butterfly and the 200 IM to highlight the local performances.

Meanwhile, 25 SBSC swimmers ages 10-18 competed in the Winter Age Group Championships in Huntington Beach against 51 other Southern California teams.

13-year-old Nya Cable headlined the local swimmers with gold medals in the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke while also placing third in the 400 IM, 200 butterfly and 100 butterfly.

Ben White also shined in his event, securing a qualifying time for Sectionals in the 400 IM.

Jacob Angel, Lucas Angel, Oliver Barclay, Hannah Bernal, Ryley Bright, Sienna Chavez, Gianna Conant, Emi Kanda-Gleeson, Gwyneth Kinports, Harper McClanahan, Siobhan Murphy, Wil Rivera, Sawyer Siciliano, Caity Swenson, Natana Vapnek, Kalea Wann, Noah Warkentin, Wyatt Warkentin and Jen Won all placed in the top 10 or earned personal bests.
