Former Santa Barbara City Councilman Dale Francisco breaks down the slate effort to unseat the current leadership within the Santa Barbara County Republican Party, and install new blood.

Watch the full conversation in the YouTube video link below. Francisco is the latest guest on Josh Molina’s Santa Barbara Talks Podcast.

“In my view, the Republican Central Committee has been utterly ineffective,” Francisco says on this week’s episode. “It shouldn’t be that way.”

A slate of candidates is campaigning to win seats on the board in the March 5 primary, and they have launched a website.

“To my knowledge, this is the first time there’s been an organized group of people running slates to replace the current leadership,” said Francisco, who once served as chair of the Republican Central Committee. “They have their website, they are sending texts. They are actually running a campaign. I don’t think that’s ever happened before.”

The conversation also includes talk about Frank Troise, a Third District Santa Barbara County Supervisorial candidate, looking to unseat incumbent Joan Hartmann. Francisco likes Troise’s business background and experience, a trait that he believes the current supervisors lack.

Check out the podcast to also hear Francisco’s views on First District Supervisor candidate Roy Lee and why he believes he’s a better choice than the incumbent.

Finally, Francisco explains the city of Santa Barbara’s Measure A, and why he believes voters should support the measure, which would allow the City Council to accept the most responsible bidder for its own construction projects, rather than the lowest bidder.
