Four wins by fall weren’t enough for the Santa Barbara High wrestling team, as the Dons dropped a 48-30 decision at Rio Mesa in a Channel League dual meet opener on Tuesday.
Santa Barbara started the night with four falls and raced out to a quick 24-0 lead. Benicio Garcia Holland, Angel Parra, Jose Ibarra and Jonathan Mora got the team rolling.
The Dons, however, suffered a loss at 113 pounds and forfeited three bouts, which allowed Rio Mesa to get back in the match.
Rio Mesa recorded five pins to take the lead.
Niko Proft of the Dons won the last bout of the night by a pin.
