The Santa Barbara High passing combination of Abel Renteria and Kai Mault received player of the year honors at their positions on the All-Channel League football team.

Renteria was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Year while Mault was named the league’s top wide receiver.

JT Stone and his coaching staff were honored as the league’s Varsity Staff of the Year. They led the Dons to a share of the league title with Pacifica and Rio Mesa and a 9-2 overall record.

Pacifica won four individual awards: running back Josh Joyner was named the league MVP, Antione Henderson, the co-Defensive Lineman of the Year, Jordan Whitney, Linebacker of the Year, and Dayton Aupui, Defensive Back of the Year.

Rio Mesa had three individual honorees: Sal Maria, Defensive MVP; Dominick Jones, co-Defensive Lineman, and Henry Borjas, the top utility player.

Buena quarterback Zane Carter was named the Offensive Back of the Year.

On the all-league first team, Santa Barbara had two players on the offense: junior center AJ Gomez and senior running back Nathan Barrios.

From San Marcos, senior tackle Ebrahim Alfar-Diaz and senior running back Andre McCullough were named to the first team.

On the first-team defense, junior lineman Damian Stehno and safety Andrew Tobin were picked from Santa Barbara.

Also on the team were San Marcos senior outside linebacker Owen Lauderdale and Dos Pueblos senior punter Greg Tripathi.

Local players on the second-team offense were senior running back David Buso and senior wide receiver Cairo Rios of Dos Pueblos, junior wide receiver Winston Bartley and freshman lineman Malachi Johnston of Santa Barbara.

The second-team defense included Santa Barbara senior linebacker Julian Castro, senior lineman Roak Norton, and junior defensive back Jacob Nevarez.

Dos Pueblos senior lineman Nic Bitar also was a second-team pick.

The honorable mention choices from the local schools were:

Santa Barbara: Adrian Chavez, junior OL, Noah Ortega-Napoles, junior OL, Murphy Cisneros, senior LB, Benicio Garcia Holland, senior LB.

San Marcos: Josh Engel, senior QB; Johnny Frohling, senior DE, Patrick Kelly senior DB, Carlos Gomez, senior OL.

Dos Pueblos: Ryan Marsh, junior QB, Daniel Johnston, junior WR/DB,  Brody Fredrickson, senior TE/DE. Juan Carlos Contreras, junior OL.
