Santa Barbara High alum and Long Beach State freshman Ford Harman has made a name for himself as a professional beach volleyball player on the national stage.

Harman, 19, competed in the Hermosa Beach Open Championship last month alongside partner Troy Field in a 32-team field that included 11 Olympians.

The duo placed 13th in the championship tournament, defeating Dylan Maarek/Lev Prima (21-19, 18-21, 15-11) and David Lee/Silila Tucker (21-18, 21-15). Lee is a three-time Olympian and gold medalist.

Harman and Field will continue to compete as partners for the 2025 beach volleyball season while playing in both AVP, or Association of Volleyball Professionals, and FIVB, or International Volleyball Federation, events.

Many athletes use their performances in FIVB events to climb the ladder to reach the Olympics, a goal for Harman in the coming years of his professional career.
