Defending CIF-SS wrestling champion Pepper Marks of Santa Barbara High went undefeated and won her division at The Showdown On The Shore Tournament at Hueneme High on Saturday.

Marks pinned Camarillo’s Makensey Schlimgen in the first period in the title match. She improved to 12-0 on the season.

Coach Marc Fidel said Marks attempted five double-leg takedowns before countering a headlock attempt by Schlimgen and recording the pin.

In her first match, Marks scored five takedowns during a 16-0 technical fall against Amiliua Slocum of Buena. She pinned Allison Cortes of Rio Mesa in the first period of the second round.

Marks pinned Leilani Brady of Cabrillo in the first round of the semifinals.

Santa Barbara’s Sophia Slavich recorded two falls at 150 pounds before losing to Ventura’s Isabella Smith in the final.
