The Santa Barbara-based Único Fútbol Club Boys 2011 team won the California State Soccer Association-South State Cup Mayors 12U Division championship last weekend in San Bernardino, defeating Lompoc Chelsea in the final, 1-0.

Cruz Alvarado scored the game-winning goal, finishing a through pass from Nick Quintero with 10 minutes left in regulation.

The Único FC boys took first place in their four-team tournament group and won four matches in the knockout phase to reach the final. The matches were played over three weekends in Oceanside, Lancaster and San Bernardino.

Único FC went 3-0 in group play and outscored the opposition 18-0. In the playoffs, the club defeated Celtics Shamrock (4-2), VC Fusion (4-2) Lancaster NSC (3-1) and Alliance Drako (3-2) before beating Lompoc Chelsea for the title.

The team members are Vincent Sandoval, Lucas Aguilar, Jonathan Bay Mendez, Nito Quintero, Abel Velasquez, Daniel Tapia, Adrian Jimenez, Henry Zylstra, Henry Metcalfe, Jonathan Cuevas, Sebastian Gonzales, Sergio Morales, Cruz Alvarado and Rogelio Giovanni Díaz Bernal. The coach is Juvenal Sanchez and Brianna Aguilar is the team manager.

The Único FC players attend local public schools, including Adelante Charter School, Harding, La Patera, Montecito Union, Roosevelt and Santa Barbara Community Academy. 

The Único Fútbol Club was founded in 2022 to provide opportunities for youth soccer players to experience a healthy, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment to learn, love and live the game of soccer.

The club currently has 10 boys and girls teams ranging from age groups U8 to U13 and is still growing.
