The Santa Maria Block Grants Advisory Committee (BGAC) invites the public to an interactive workshop, 4 p.m. Monday, July 13, in Shepard Hall at Santa Maria Public Library, 421 S. McClelland St.

The workshop is to discuss general unmet needs in Santa Maria, and community members can provide feedback on past performance under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

If translation services are needed, notify staff via phone at 805-925-0951 ext. 2118 by noon Friday, July 10.

This workshop marks the start of the public participation process to develop priorities for the Annual Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2027-28, which begins July 1, 2027.

The Action Plan is required of local governments that apply directly for federal funds under certain housing and community development programs, such as the CDBG Program. This federal program is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The annual Action Plan describes the activities to be undertaken during the upcoming fiscal year with the available resources.

Results of this workshop will be presented to the City Council at public hearing, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The City Council will receive public comments and consider the priority recommendations proposed by the BGAC. Please see the online agenda, which will be posted on the city’s Meeting Portal at least 72 hours before the meeting.

Questions may be directed to the Community Programs Division, 805-925-0951 ext. 2118.
