Santa Maria’s Draft General Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) are available for public review and comment until Sunday, Sept. 28.
The Community Development Department is preparing a comprehensive update to the city’s General Plan.
The nine individual elements, or chapters of the Draft General Plan include goals, policies, and implementation activities that serve as the master plan for Santa Maria’s growth for the next 25-30 years.
The Draft EIR analyzes the potential environmental impacts of the growth contemplated by Draft General Plan.
During the public review period, community members can study the Draft General Plan and EIR provide feedback to the city.
Each of the General Plan Elements, the Draft EIR document, as well as a form for providing feedback, are available at the project website.
The next public meeting on the Draft General Plan and EIR will be 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20 in Shepard Hall at Santa Maria Public Library, 421 S. McClelland St.
Planning Commission Study Sessions will be 1:30 p.m. Thursdays Sept. 4 and 18, also at Shepard Hall.
