The city of Santa Maria is extending the application deadline for the Recreation and Parks Commission to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, with appointments expected to be made at the Sept. 16 City Council meeting.
Applications for the Block Grants Advisory Committee are closed. This pause is in place as the city works to gradually reduce through attrition the number of committee members from 15 to 10 per City Resolution 96-17.
Recreation and Parks Commission has one vacancy to fill an unexpired term ending in January 2027, and/or coterminous with nominating councilmember’s term.
Applicants must be residents of Santa Maria. Members are nominated by individual councilmembers, appointed by the mayor, and confirmed by the City Council.
The commission advises the City Council on Recreation and Parks operations and activities. The commission meets at 4 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month in the City Council Chambers.
Applications may be completed and submitted online from the city’s webpage, or in person at the City Clerk’s office, Santa Maria City Hall, 110 E. Cook St.
