The Santa Maria Utilities Department is continuing its Smart Landscape Rebate Program, which incentivizes city residential and commercial water customers to replace water-thirsty landscapes and inefficient irrigation systems with water-wise plants and smart irrigation systems.

Qualified projects can receive rebates of up to $1,500 for residential projects and up to $2,500 for commercial and multi-family projects.

The program can cover a portion of the cost of pre-approved design, water-wise plants, smart irrigation systems, and landscape materials.

Projects must be pre-approved, and landscapes for new construction are not eligible.  The program is not retroactive, and sale receipts and/or contractor invoices are required for all rebates.

Applications are currently being accepted through Wednesday, Dec. 31.
